Raw
Raw steel means exactly that: bare steel as it comes from the steel mill, cleaned before shipment but otherwise unfinished and unsealed. It will naturally oxidize and develop rust or patina over time. Humidity, weather, handling, atmosphere, and display location all influence how quickly it ages and how that patina looks.

Rusted — The Dirt Road Gardener’s signature hand-rusted finish
Our Rusted finish is genuine rust, begun by hand using ordinary household ingredients including vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and salt. It is not paint, faux rust, powder coating, or a printed finish.

The steel is intentionally left unsealed so its weathered character can continue developing naturally. Variations in color, texture, and rust pattern are expected; each piece will age in its own way.

Rust may transfer to hands, clothing, walls, flooring, furniture, or other surfaces it contacts. Please consider those surfaces when choosing your display location. If you love the appearance as it arrives and want to help slow continued oxidation, you may choose to apply an appropriate clear protective coating after receiving it.

Flat Black
A flat black finish offers a simple, bold look that pairs beautifully with evergreen foliage, cream siding, natural wood, and traditional Christmas accents.

Shipping is free. UPS is our preferred carrier, and we use it whenever it can deliver to your physical address. If UPS cannot service your address, we may use USPS instead.

Because our pieces are handmade to order and produced with customer-selected specifications, returns and refunds are not accepted.

If your order arrives damaged, is incorrect, or fails to arrive, contact The Dirt Road Gardener within 7 days so we can review the situation and work toward an appropriate resolution together. Resolution depends on the circumstances.
