The woods go quiet, and there he stands—an antlered buck at the water’s edge, framed by tall pines and distant mountain peaks. Our Mountain Buck metal porch leaner captures that pause in the wilderness, bringing the feeling of a secluded cabin morning to the place you call home.

A watchful buck anchors this word-free landscape, surrounded by rocky ground, grasses, evergreens, and water. Mountain ridges rise above him beneath drifting clouds, while a tall tree stretches along the side of the panel to frame the scene.
The landscape is formed from remaining steel and genuine cut-through openings. Your wood siding, porch wall, or the scenery behind the piece shows through those open areas—there is no printed background or solid backing panel.
Lean it beside a cabin door, mount it near a rustic entry bench, or hang it beside a covered porch post using suitable hardware of your own. A wooden rocking chair, a wool blanket, and a planter of ferns or evergreen branches make natural companions for its woodland character.
Mountain Buck is a year-round piece for cabin porches, lake-house entries, and homes inspired by the outdoors. It makes a thoughtful handmade gift for deer enthusiasts, hunters, wildlife watchers, or someone whose favorite retreat is a quiet place in the woods.
Choose your finish
Raw
Raw steel as it comes from the steel mill, cleaned before shipment but otherwise unfinished and unsealed. It will naturally oxidize and develop rust or patina over time. Humidity, weather, handling, atmosphere, and display location influence how quickly it ages and how that patina appears.
Rusted — The Dirt Road Gardener’s signature hand-rusted finish
Our Rusted finish is genuine rust, started by hand using ordinary household ingredients including vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and salt. It is not paint, faux rust, powder coating, or a printed finish.
We intentionally leave the steel unsealed so it can continue naturally rusting and developing a deeper patina. Variations in color, texture, and rust pattern are expected and are part of the character of genuine weathered steel.
Rust may transfer to hands, clothing, walls, flooring, furniture, or other surfaces it contacts. Please consider surrounding surfaces when choosing your display location. If you love the appearance as it arrives and want to help slow continued oxidation, you may choose to apply an appropriate clear protective coating after receiving it.
Flat Black
A flat black finish gives the buck, mountain ridges, and forest a bold silhouette against lighter backgrounds. Pair it with natural timber, stone, and simple lodge-inspired furnishings.
