The ice skate, snowflakes, and lettering are cut-through openings in the steel, allowing your wall or the scenery behind the sign to show through. Steel lace details give the skate its familiar old-fashioned character.

Raw
Raw steel as it comes from the steel mill, cleaned before shipment but otherwise unfinished and unsealed. Raw steel naturally oxidizes and develops rust or patina over time. The speed and appearance of that aging vary with humidity, weather, handling, atmosphere, and where the piece is displayed.

Rusted — The Dirt Road Gardener’s signature hand-rusted finish
Our Rusted finish is genuine rust, started by hand using ordinary household ingredients including vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and salt. It is not paint, faux rust, powder coating, or a printed finish.

The steel is intentionally left unsealed so it can continue aging naturally and developing a deeper patina. Variations in color, texture, and rust pattern are expected and are part of the character of genuine weathered steel.

Rust may transfer to hands, clothing, walls, flooring, furniture, or other surfaces it contacts. Please consider the surrounding surfaces when choosing where to display it. If you love the finish as it arrives and want to help slow continued oxidation, you may choose to apply an appropriate clear protective coating after receiving it.

Flat Black
A flat black finish gives the skate, snowflakes, and lettering a bold outline against lighter backdrops—a lovely pairing with snowy greenery, cream textiles, and natural wood.

Every porch leaner is handmade to order. Please allow 7–10 business days for production, plus carrier transit time.

Shipping is free. We use UPS whenever it can deliver to your physical address. If UPS cannot service your address, we may use USPS instead.

Mounting and hanging hardware, including the bracket and chains shown in the styled photograph, are not included. Other staging accessories are not included.

Returns & order concerns

Because our pieces are handmade to order and produced with customer-selected specifications, returns and refunds are not accepted.

If your order arrives damaged, is incorrect, or fails to arrive, please contact The Dirt Road Gardener within 7 days so we can review the situation and work toward an appropriate resolution together. Resolution may vary depending on the circumstances.
