The Porch That Became a Mudroom
Share
You know that feeling when a single image makes everything click?
That’s exactly what happened when I saw this stunning pin by Amanda Rone Chamberlain. In an instant, it had me rethinking the corner of our 3-season porch that’s become the coat wall/boot catch-all. We don’t have a traditional mudroom — but what we do have is a space that works just as hard.
Let me give you a peek behind the screen…
Our 3-season porch is on the back of the house, but don’t let that fool you — it’s basically an extension of our home. It gets scrubbed and cleaned weekly. It’s where I spend slow mornings with coffee in the fall, where we keep the hot tub, the vintage glider, the porch swing, and yes… where the chaos of coats and boots lives.
With a hubby who’s been an iron worker for over 30 years, the porch also plays defense against the mud and grit that follows him home. It’s not glamorous, but it’s real life — and I’ve always wanted to give that corner some love. But let’s be honest, when you're always designing for others or prepping content, your own home tends to get the leftovers.
Until now.
When I stumbled across Amanda’s pin, I immediately thought, I love this — if only I had a mudroom.
Then I laughed out loud… because I realized I do. It’s just not labeled that way yet.
That one pin flipped the script. I started taking inventory of what I already had around the house — baskets, hooks, an antique bench — and wouldn’t you know it, I had 99% of what I needed.
The rest? I found it all while curating a new Amazon collection with my favorite cottage-style finds. Everything from vintage-look boot trays to cozy wall hooks and weathered baskets — it’s all there, and it’s all linked in one cozy corner of my storefront.
If you’ve ever looked at a space in your home and thought “If only…”, I’m here to tell you — just go for it. Your Pinterest board is calling and I promise, the right pieces are already out there (and if you need a shortcut, my collection might just help you get started).
Because let’s be real: the porch is no longer just a porch.
It’s our mudroom-in-disguise — and it’s about to be the coziest, hardest-working corner of the house.
Stay tuned for the after, friend. It’s coming.
