Resale Gold & Raised Beds – My $37 Summer Thrift Haul

Resale Gold & Raised Beds – My $37 Summer Thrift Haul

We were headed to Home Depot for what we thought would be a quick trip—just in and out for some raised bed garden soil.

My veggie beds are about 4 feet off the ground, so they don’t get the benefit of the natural minerals in the soil below. I always top them off midseason to keep everything thriving — and this trip was all about replenishing them with fresh nutrients.

But on the way out of the parking lot, I spotted a Salvation Army resale store just sitting there like a little treasure chest waiting to be opened.

So I gave my husband the look — you know the one — and said, "Let’s just swing in for a sec."

And WOW am I glad we did.

Here’s what I found — all for $37:

  • A pair of Hey Dude shoes, brand new with tags

  • A soft-brim sun hat, also brand new

  • A pair of Liz Claiborne floral shorts

  • A Rae Dunn ceramic dog treat jar

  • And the absolute gem: a piece of Frankoma pottery in the softest green glaze — a collector’s dream

Each piece felt intentional, useful, and so me. And if you were to recreate this exact haul with new items? You’d be spending well over $100.

But that’s the joy of Cozy & Collected — finding pieces that feel like they were waiting for you all along, at just the right price and moment.

That wraps up this week’s Cozy & Collected — proof that a trip for soil can grow into something much more stylish.
Thanks for tagging along, friend. I’ll be back next Monday with another round of cozy gold, secondhand stories, and thrifted joy.
