Gathered Over Time: A Porch, a Table, and the Stories They Hold
Share
Some of the most beautiful pieces in our homes aren't just found — they’re kept. Tucked into corners, handed down, and reimagined into new spaces with fresh eyes and old souls. This week’s Cozy & Collected walk-through feels especially close to my heart.
On the screened-in porch, a galvanized wash tub from my mama found new life as a potting station. It no longer holds water, but it holds purpose — and a whole lot of plants. I paired it with a $5 garage sale stool that’s been a staple in our home ever since. You’ll find it tucked somewhere useful in nearly every season — it’s one of those pieces that just works.
Step inside, and you’ll spot a set of sage green rocking chairs off to the side. These chairs have seen decades of life, love, and laughter — passed from a friend of my mama’s, to her, and now to me. Their paisley upholstery couldn’t be more perfect for this space, and their story makes them even sweeter.
And then there’s the dining table — my mama’s. When she and my dad downsized to build their barn dominium, she knew how much I’d always loved that table. It’s now the heart of our home. Meals are shared here. Memories too. Above it, her china cabinet now displays my grandma’s blue dishes from the 1950s. Each plate feels like a chapter in our story.
This home wasn’t decorated in a day. It’s been gathered — slowly, intentionally, and with so much love.
I hope you loved this weeks entry as much as I loved writing it! See you next week right here for another Cozy & Collected Monday.
